About Thalia

Thalia Anderen, PhD, MSW,  RCSW, LCSW is an internationally licensed clinical social worker in the U.S. (Illinois, Connecticut, and New York) and Canada (Alberta and Ontario). She has over twenty years' experience as a therapist. Thalia received her BA in Psychology from Skidmore College, her MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work, and her PhD in Social Work from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Thalia's therapeutic approach focuses on the goals and needs of her clients. She uses a variety of approaches including EMDR, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and psycho-education. Thalia strongly believes in creating a safe space and taking the time necessary get to know her clients to find strategies and interventions that are individualized to their needs.

 

Although she routinely works with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and other relational and mental health issues, Thalia has significant experience working with trauma and disaster relief, including those impacted by 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, the Sandy Hook school shooting, and the 2013 Alberta, Canada floods. Thalia is Linehan-trained in DBT and is an EMDRIA-certified EMDR therapist.
